The Perfect Bathroom Rug

The perfect bathroom rug for you is the one that is going to compliment your bathroom’s décor, not get too dirty too fast and that is not going to cause anyone to slip and fall. Fortunately there are literally millions of bathroom rugs for sale online and in retail stores of all kinds. If anything your selection of rugs is almost too wide and it may take you sometime to find the bathroom rug you are looking for, unless you have a particular color, theme or material in mind.

One way to narrow down your choices is to decide ahead of time what type of bathroom rug you need. First of all determine the size of the rug that you will need for your bathroom. Do you need it to cover the entire floor or just a small rug so that the tiles don’t get wet outside the bathtub? Secondly determine the shape of the rug that might look best in your bathroom. Oval or round rugs look best with older looking bathroom furniture. Square or triangular shaped rugs suit more contemporary bathroom styles. Rugs that have fringes are definitely more old-fashioned looking then ones that are plain yet have a decorative border instead.

A huge consideration is what the bathroom rug should be made of. If you like a cozy “sex kitten” type of look you can try for a fluffy pink rug made out of “Borg”. For a simpler down-home look you can try a braided rug or one made of macramé. For a Far Eastern flair try a grass mat. There are also bathroom rugs made out of wool, acrylic and every type of fiber you can think of. The best fabrics will be those like wool that dry quickly or rugs that are treated with a water repellent fabric treatment.

You can also get them in every type of pattern on earth as well. You can get bathroom rugs decorated with floral themes, Persian themes and with graphics. As the bathroom has to do with water seashell, aquarium and fish motifs are also very popular. A bathroom rug with a picture of a favorite cartoon is a good choice for a kid’s room.

When choosing a bathroom rug it also helps to think of it in terms of its color and if the color will fit in with the entire design scheme of the room. You can think of the rug as being an accent that picks up the color of paint trim in the room or you can have it match your shower curtains and towels. It is also common to have the bathroom rug match the color of paint on the walls. Just be aware that the darker the rug is in color the longer you will be able to leave it in the bathroom without washing it. After all the point of having a bathroom rug is to save you the trouble of mopping the floor, not to burden you with more laundry.
